The Creamsicle Soft Bead is one color that mimics "dead" eggs from pink, chum and king salmon. This is a great color to fish when the spawn is going off and the fish are feasting. It continues to fish late into spawn when fresh eggs are disappearing. This is also a great color for steelhead when the water is low and clear or when the bright, extravagant colors are turning fish off. It is also a money color for fall steelhead on the Kenai Peninsula. Try adding UV Glo Troutify Bead Paint for when the dark, stormy days are rolling.

Hartwick's Hoser in Pink is a favorite swinging fly in Alaska for fish that have just entered the rivers. Flowing marabou, grizzly hackle wings and subtle flash underneath are the perfect combination of all that steelhead love to eat. The tungsten conehead adds weight and is hidden just behind where the marabou is tied in. It also acts as a platform to keep the marabou from collapsing in the water. The fly is approximately 2 3/4" in length and comes ready to fish with junction tubing and hook.

Of course the Cerise and Tutti Fruiti are winners, but don't overlook the Black. It was a winner even for bright fish off the beach!

From the vise of well know angler Jerry Darkes, comes the Naknek Sockeye Smolt. The rabbit strip body wiggles and dances like a wounded smolt while the spun deer hair head imparts buoyancy. Fish it on a floating line for the smolt bust or on a sink tip when the rainbows are holding deeper.
